Suicide in India

According to the latest report released by the National Crime Records Bureau, every hour 15 people commit suicide in India. Bangalore recorded the highest, where 2167 people killed themselves in 2009.

        Poverty, bankruptcy and unemployment are three major reasons behind it. Health problems and family issues also prompt many to take such extreme step. Another worrisome factor is that one in every three victim is aged between 15 and 25 year.

        What a terrible picture! On one side India is growing, at the same time many find it hard to face lives’ realities. Yes, education, position or riches can not give man peace of mind. It is possible only by returning to our creator – God. Isaiah 30:15; Matthew 6: 25 – 34.
