Light Alone Prevents Darkness

By Joy Murickal Issac, Kerala

As God’s people, how blessed we are in Christ and what a wonderful freedom we possess. We experience unspeakable joy and great peace in the Lord. But when we look around, the world is groaning due to the bondage of sin and the activities of evil forces. Many have no idea of what is the root cause for all these troubles and who is behind all these destruction and chaos.
The Bible says, the whole world is under the yoke of Satan. But God in His grace delivered us, all glory to Him. Many religions and their leaders failed to retain their folk’s faith because they don’t allow light to lead them. Remember, darkness can only be prevented by light. Wherever light is present, there is no room for darkness.
Believer’s Duty
Let’s consider few words about light. Apostle John writes, “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:5) In this passage, we further see about John the Baptist. (John 1:6) He came to witness and testify of the light. This is exactly the duty of each chosen one; to witness and testify about the light to this dark world.
Many people and nations are under bondage and in all kinds of wickedness due to lack of enlightenment. But our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He can enlighten those who seek light. Today, our responsibility is to reflect this divine light by our works, attitude, expressions and writings. May the Lord help us to enlighten many as our Master has done when He was in this world. (Matthew 5: 14 – 16)
We have lot of reasons to worship and give thanks to the Father. One of the main reasons is that He has given us a share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son. (Colo. 1: 12 – 14)
Value our Privilege
I don’t want to explain this great privilege we share now. But let me remind believers this, 40% of humanity have no freedom to think and receive the word of God in their countries. Around 70% of the population don't bother or even have the time to listen to the precious message of the gospel owing to many earthly reasons.
Do not forget, today we don’t know much about the value of what Christ has done for us. But in eternity everything will be revealed. Let us peruse its deep meaning and praise God always even as we give out the light of life to people around us.
