Introduction
We have seen briefly about one of the most important questions of life: “Where am I come from?” Now let us consider another question all of us tend to ask, “Why am I here?” What is the purpose of our life? Is there any definite reason for our existence?
The major points we considered are these:
Man comes from the perfect plan of God.
We are not here by accident.
Our existence is not by chance.
That means our creator the Almighty God has a definite plan for our life.
Those who do not accept this truth of our origin will think in the opposite:-
Such concept about human origin and purpose makes man to see life as meaningless and leads to hopelessness. In times of crisis particularly, they do not find any goal to continue, thus end up in utter bleakness and begin to hate life itself.
The Bible reveals that God who created man in His own image has a definite plan about his life. Our effort in this study is to see more about that plan of the creator for mankind.
The importance of God's plan for man
Is it important to seek and live in God's will? Yes, God's plan about our life is very important.
Our limited knowledge.
Even our common sense can tell us that it is the best for us to seek and live in God's will rather than relying on our limited knowledge. Who do not know this fact that man knows little and his judgment would be wrong. Job.8:9; Psalm.73:22; Ecclesiastes. 8:7; 9:12 ; 11:5.
God's perfect plan
God who created us knows the best for us. So unquestionably we ought to seek God's plan for our life and live accordingly. Apostle Paul says three things about God's will. Romans.12:2.
God's will is good. Good for the individual and all others.
God's will is acceptable. Acceptable to God.
God's will is perfect. It has no flaw, no mistake.
God who does not make a mistake, who needs no counsel has purposed a plan for my life which is good, acceptable and perfect. Yes, God's plan alone has that features. Our idea and schemes will fail, it has flaws, and it can not be perfect in every way. That's why we need to search the will of God diligently and live in it.
Loss - outside God's plan
It is a big loss to live away from God's will. In the creation story itself we see how man failed to live according to God's plan and lost his place in the garden as well as his fellowship with God. Genesis.3:23, 24. Romans.1:24. We have plenty of examples through out the Bible where we see people as well as nations end up in destruction and utter loss because of their rebellion against God's plan. 1Samuel.15:22, 23. Isaiah.1:1—9. Even in the present day how many lives are in failure just because knowingly or unknowingly they live against God's will?
At the same time, as we begin to discover the purposes of our creator and experience those things in our life, there is peace, satisfaction and joy. God is pleased in such lives and even the people surrounding them also will feel the blessedness of their life. Only because they seek their Master's plan for their life and follow it.
Do you have a desire to know God's will for your life?
Notice the longing of King David,
“ Lead me, O Lord; in thy righteousness…..make thy way straight before my face.” Psalm.5:8
“ Lead me in thy truth and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” Psalm.25:5
“Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.” Psalm.27:11
“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God.” Psalm.143:10a.
Even at the face of cruel death on the cross of Calvary the Lord Jesus Christ prayed, ‘Father your will be done'. Luke.22:42. That is the kind of commitment we need in knowing and practicing God's purposes in our life.
