The Humanity of Christ:- 2

A. THE PROOF OF HIS HUMANITY

1. He was born as a babe to a mother.

He was like any other baby. His mother Mary bore him in her womb for nine months. He had a family background. Dr. Luke who carefully examined this story writes, “So, it was while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her first born Son and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke. 2:6, 7.

He has a genealogy. Matthew goes up to Abraham and Dr. Luke, up to Adam tracking the lineage of Christ. Hebrew writer says He sprang out of the tribe of Judah . Hebrews 7:14. cf. Matt.1:18; 2:11 ; 12:47;13:15 ; John.1:14; Acts.13:23. Romans.1:3. All these scripture portions speak of His family background and His upbringing as a normal child.

2. He was developed as a normal human being.

He had a normal growth as any other little child had. Dr. Luke's observation is noteworthy. “ And the child grew and became strong in spirit filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him….And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” Luke.2:40, 52. He had training at home and instruction in the temple. He definitely had personal study of the scriptures. Luke.2:46. As any other child of His time He developed to maturity as a gradual process.

3. He called Himself as a man.

To the Jews He says, “But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God” John. 8:40

4. Others found Him as a Man.

All recognized Him as a man. People who knew Him and the family were astonished at His wisdom. They began to say, “Where did this Man get these things... Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon...?” Mark. 6:2, 3. He was known as an ordinary carpenter. In fact He worked as a carpenter till the age of thirty. Samaritan woman found Him as an ordinary Jew because of His language or certain distinctive features. John 4:9. Pilate refers to Him as a man. John.19:5.

Next:- 5. He possessed body, soul & spirit as any other man.
