Stinking Sores
“From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it. But wounds and bruises and putrefying sores; they have not been closed or bound up or soothed with ointment.” Isaiah. 1:6.
While revealing the sinful state of Judah , the Lord compares their stage to a terribly sick person. Not only there is sickness inside their head and heart, the whole body is in an unhealthy condition. The most dreadful thing is the bruises and rotten sores. It's a simple fact that any injury if not treated properly, will get infected and worsens the condition. Any sore should be cleaned to bring out the pus and then apply appropriate medicine for healing. In some cases, need medication externally as well as internally. Neglecting an infected wound is catastrophic.
That's what happened in Judah . They were fully living in sin. Even though they were entirely infected by evil, Judah paid no attention to the deteriorating spiritual condition. They felt everything is fine and continued with their rituals. As a result of neglecting sin and its consequences, iniquities were accumulated. The repeated chastisement of the Lord also brought no change. Altogether a pathetic state.
Showing a careless attitude to sin is a bad sign. Sin can never go unpunished. It has to be dealt with in the proper manner. Today, the Lord has made it possible to find cleansing through blood of Jesus Christ. It's deception to think that we can cover up sin and ignore it easily. “Be sure your sin will find you out. ” Numbers.32:23c.
