Divine Mourning!

“ Hear O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the Lord has spoken ” Isaiah.1:2

Summery:- Man may become worse than the most dull and brute beast. It really grieves the heart of God and graciously calls Him back to Himself.

Is it possible for heaven and earth to listen? It seems so, because it is the creator who calls upon them to hearken. The topic of the Almighty is His own people. “I have nourished and brought up children and they have rebelled against me.”

The heart of God is grieved due to the ingratitude and rebellion of His people. He dealt with them as a Father and cared for them as a mother. In fact, there is no other group of people who got so many blessings from God as the people of Israel . Yet they forgot all those benefits and forsook God and worse, revolted against Him. Now, with a sorrowful heart the Lord is calling upon the heaven and earth to bear witness to these facts.

Yes, He is sure, unlike His people, the nature will listen to Him. For the psalmist it was a wonderful reality that the nature moves in perfect obedience to God, its creator. “ You have set a boundary that they may not pass over: That they may not return to cover the earth.” (Psalm.104:9). The nature faithfully follows the course the creator has set for it. Not only the sea, the sun, moon and all other creatures move according to God's plan. (Psalm.104:19—24)

But alas, man has become so ungrateful and rebellious. The Lord goes on to say that even, “the ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master's crib; but Israel does not know, my people do not consider.” V.3. People of Judah have become worse than the most dull and brute beast. They don't even consider.

Is it our state today? Do we listen to the voice of God today? Do we consider the manifold works of God with gratitude?

It is possible; if not careful enough we also may become hard-hearted, senseless and thankless like the people of Judah . Let us open our ears to His voice. It is His grace that He still communicates with us! Before too late, hearken and be obedient. Ingratitude, indifference and rebellion grieve the heart of God.
