Researchers in the U.S have found that humans can detect the smell of fear and being scared is contagious. The chemical signals emitted by the body in the sweat when scared can be picked up by others and can trigger fear in their brains.
In the same manner, happiness also is transmittable. The researchers analyzed information on the happiness of 4, 739 people and their connections with several thousand others- spouse, relatives, close fiends, neighbors, and co-workers- from 1983 to 2003. They found that happiness of our associates do have a great impact in our life. One author says, “If your friend's friend becomes happy, that has a bigger impact on you being happy than putting an extra, $5000 in your pocket.”
According to Dr. Nicholas A. Christakis, people take emotional cues from their own gender. A next – door neighbor's joy increased one's chance of being happy by 34 percent, but a neighbor down the block had no effect. “ You have to see them and be in physical and temporal proximity.” Christakis said.
According to another study appeared in the ‘American Journal of Health Promotion' happiness affects our health. They found that happy and satisfied people are more likely to be healthy in future.
As far as a Christian is concerned, his happiness does not depend upon circumstances, friends or any other earthly resources. (Psalm.4:7) True Christian joy is supernatural and surpasses all situations, because it is derived from our association with God Almighty, through the Lord Jesus Christ. (John.16:20, 22, 24) At the same time this joy is also contagious as the researchers have rightly found.
